Life in a Thai School

"These stories and photo albums are some of my experiences from teaching at Sriwittayapaknam School in Samut Prakan, Thailand, for the last 17 years."

Lunctime Grace

School Lunch

Before the students start eating their lunch each day they have to say a short grace. This teaches them to be grateful for what they have and not to waste it as there are many starving people in the world.

Here is a rough translation:

For every plate of rice and every  kind of food,
Do not waste anything as it all has value.
There are many starving people in the world.
Feel sorry for all the innocent children.
Thank you to the teachers who look after us.
As well as the cooks who prepare food for us to eat.
We are full and happy and very grateful.
Thank you. Thank you.
