Anniversary Of King Rama VI’s Death

Today marks the anniversary of the death of King Rama VI on November 25, 1925. As this King is regarded as the “Father of Thai Scouting”, schools all over the country took part in a special ceremony to celebrate his life and to remember the day he died. Mr. Surachai Kanasa, the Governor of Samut Prakan, presided over the ceremony at the City Hall Plaza. He is seen here laying a wreath at the foot of a statue of King Rama VI.

This price difference autlalcy isn’t too bad. The Ministry of Fine Arts in Ayutthaya and Sukhothai charges fives times the Thai rate for foreigners (100 Baht per site vs 20 Baht per site). They do not honor work permits either. I even found a restaurant in Sukhothai that had a Thai menu and an English menu. Items from the English menu were typically twice as much. At first, I was angry at the restaurant but then realized that the government’s example is training the locals to cheat foreigners.
